Matt Merchant
Director of Product Development
Matt joined Spiradrill in 2008 after moving to Texas from Tallahassee, Florida. Over the years, Matt has worked his way up the ranks serving many roles. Today, as Director of Product Development, Matt is the primary contact for resolving customer issues and improving our products based on customer feedback. He also collaborates with the Spiradrill manufacturing team and engineers to evaluate the practicality of new ideas and ensure new products meet Spiradrill’s high standards for quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
In his early years with Spiradrill, Matt worked in the machine shop, eventually being promoted to machine shop supervisor where he provided much of the customer training on all Spiradrill series drills – a service he still provides today to ensure customers understand how to achieve the best results and operate our rigs safely. Later, Matt would be promoted to parts manager, ensuring proper inventory levels of approximately 3,000 parts based on customer demand.
An electrician by trade, Matt was a project manager for Tarpon Electric in Florida before moving to Texas. He also served as a facility coordinator for the manufacturing company, Tallahassee Technology.
Matt and his wife, Tiffany, have three daughters (Chelsea, Lee Ann, and Makenna). In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and fishing.
